To cope with the growing development costs, Nintendo needs to sell 2 million copies of console projects. This was told by one of the company’s executives Shigeru Miyamoto (Shigeru Miyamoto) at an event for investors.
One of the investors asked Myamoto a question – how exactly does Nintendo plan to cope with the increasing costs of producing games. In response, the head of the company told about the goals for the near future. According to him, in order to remain profitable, Nintendo needs to sell 2 million copies of games for the company’s consoles – Wii U and Nenndo 3DS – worldwide.
“Since we can’t create too much additional game content, the only solution is to make sure that our games sell well,” he shared. – We will create some hits. And then even if our other projects fail, we will still stay afloat due to popular games. So now our main task is to create games that will sell at least 2 million copies. We simply will not recapture the invested money if we release games only for Japan with a circulation of 300 thousand. So we are focusing on the global market.”
