Virtual reality is about to become available to a wide user: HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR headset are due to launch in the next 8 months. Despite this, Peter Pashley, the technical director of the ustwo studio, is confident that the main way of developing virtual reality is mobile. He told about this in an interview with the VRFocus resource.
ustwo Studio is preparing to launch the Land’s End project for Samsung’s Gear VR mobile helmet. Pashli believes that launching the studio’s first VR project on mobile is the right choice. He calls mobile virtual reality the “future of VR.” Mobile headsets are inexpensive compared to console ones, and besides, almost everyone has a smartphone.
“If we talk about the mass market of the VR industry, it will develop through mobile, since most people already have a powerful and fully suitable device in their pocket,” Pashli comments.
