Aggregator Metacritic has compiled a rating of the best “large” and “medium” video game publishers.* The places in the top were distributed based on the press ratings of the 2018 games.

* Here, the “big” publishers are those who have released at least 12 titles in a year. “Average” — those that have released at least six. That’s whyActivision Blizzard and Microsoft, for example, got into the top of “average”; and Electronic Arts moved from “medium” to “large” in a year.

Large

Themost highly regarded “major” publisher is Capcom. She has a very successful Monster Hunter: World on her account with a score of 90 points. It is noteworthy that a year ago Capcom ranked fifth in the ranking.

Next in the ranking of successful big publishers are Sega, Electronic Arts and Nintendo. The fifth — Ubisoft — unlike previous publishers, finished the year with an average “yellow” rating below 75%. Even the high score of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey didn’t help.

Medium

Among the “average” publishers, Activision Blizzard turned out to be the best — thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII and DLC Forsaken for Destiny 2. However, Metacritic makes a reservation that Destiny now belongs only to Bungie Studio, which recently left Activision.

After Activision, Paradox Interactive and 505 Games are in the top three.

We should add that these figures do not reflect the commercial success of publishers. The level of sales was not taken into account when compiling the tops.
