Minsk—based Melsoft has launched its own farm – Family Island. It has been in development for more than three years.

The title was released in the App Store and Google Play after the soft launch in France. During the soft launch, the average DAU of the game reached 20 thousand. The project collected 200 thousand installations, and more than 1 million players signed up for pre-registration.

During development, the studio tried to diversify the classical genre with research and narration. Melsoft considers Hay Day and Township to be the main competitors of the title.

The setting of the novelty is the Stone Age. The player controls a family of natives, discovers and inhabits islands.

  • Core gameplay — in travel and settlement. To do this, there are more than 10 islands in the game. Clearing places to build a farm and extracting resources, he gets stars to level up and energy. Farms can be customized.
  • A lot of emphasis in the game is placed on the storyline. Periodically, the player is even invited to make one or another choice.

According to the authors, Family Island is interested in a younger audience than is customary for farms. Her target audience is players over 25 years old, and mostly they are women.

Over the past decade, she has released several strategies in the Toy Defense series and the My Cafe time manager. The latter is her main source of income.

Since 2015, Melsoft (formerly “Melesta”) has been owned by Wargaming. Since the purchase, the studio’s revenue has quadrupled. According to DataMagic, My Cafe alone earns $2 million monthly.
