A new release of the Marmalade cross-platform engine has been released. The Marmalade Platform 8.5 version has updated the set of tools for creating 2D games Marmalade 2D Kit. In addition, the engine received support for OpenAL and Windows Live Tiles.
According to the creators of the engine, the British company Marmalade Technologies, updates are based on user feedback. So, the set of tools for creating 2D games has been “completely redone”. Updates include attachable panels, the ability to manually edit layer settings, a clearer timeline for animations, and much more (the full list is listed on the company’s website).
Relevant documentation and tutorials have been compiled for the new Marmalade 2D Kit.
It was not limited to one update. Marmalade Platform 8.5 supports a software interface for working with OpenAL audio data on all platforms, from iOS and Android to Windows and OS X. In addition, in the new iteration of the engine, it became possible to create applications on Windows with Windows Live Tile (“live” tiles). Read more about working with this update here.
