Barcelona-based developer Timo Kloss has created an application whose task is to teach the BASIC programming language. For this purpose, the user is offered to create a mobile game in a retro style.

LowRes Coder exists in paid and free versions. The free version has access to 10 variants of games created in BASIC. The user uses the tutorial to create his own – or copies existing ones and changes them.

The paid version costs 169 rubles and gives access to an expanded database of games.

BASIC was created in 1964 by John Kenemi and Thomas Kurtz. The abbreviation stands for Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code – an all-purpose programming language for beginners. It was created so that students without special knowledge in programming could write computer programs to solve their problems. It became widespread in the form of various dialects.

Let’s add that popular game engines support other scripting languages. For example, for Unity, this is C#, JavaScript, and the Python Boo dialect.
