Augmented reality applications are gaining popularity. The number of their downloads per year will be 420 million by 2019, according to a study by the analytical firm Juniper Research.
For comparison, last year the number of downloads of such applications per year amounted to 30 million. Juniper Research believes that interest in head-worn devices, such as Microsoft’s Hololens, will lead to an increase in demand.
Optimistic forecasts do not negate the fact that at the moment the segment of augmented reality applications is stagnating, according to the same Juniper Research. One of the reasons for this state of affairs, the agency calls the insufficient power of mobile devices: they are not yet coping properly with tracking moving objects, for example.
