Recently it became known that two high-profile legal scandals related to the King company have been resolved.
In January of this year, it was reported that King has claims against Stoic studio, which released The Banner Saga PC strategy. The authors of the “candy” game were confused by the use of the word Saga in the title. This angered not only Stoic, but also the gaming community.
The second scandal broke out a month later, in February: Runsome Apps studio accused King of cloning CandySwipe 2010. Judging by the screenshots presented, it could be assumed that King borrowed a lot from the named project.
Last week, British journalists from Gamesindustry.biz, after reviewing the official website of Stoic and the blog of Albert Ransom, one of the developers of CandySwipe, found out that both conflicts have already been settled.
Stoic stated that they “came to an agreement with King regarding The Banner Saga trademark.” The agreement allows you to protect the trademarks of both companies.
Albert, in turn, wrote that he withdrew his claims against King, and the company withdrew its claims against him. According to him, it turned out that they had registered the name Candy Crush before the release of his game. Both projects will continue to exist under the existing names.

King, a company that started in the segment of casual and flash games for PC, thanks to the success of the Saga series projects on Facebook and mobile platforms, has turned into one of the most successful global game studios with a DAU of more than 90 million in a couple of years.
Stoic is an independent Canadian studio formed by three former BioWare employees. The studio raised money for its first project, The Banner Saga tactical strategy, using the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform.
