Esports competitions have become the official discipline of the Asian Summer Games, which will be held in 2022 in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Computer competitive disciplines will be included in the medal standings of the international championship along with traditional sports.
This decision was made by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which oversees the holding of sports competitions of various levels in the Asian region.
The issues of including esports in the program of international competitions are being worked out by the OCA together with Alisports of China, a division of the Chinese trading corporation Alibaba.
Esports as part of international sports competitions will be pre-tested at the Asian Martial Arts Games and Indoor Competitions, which will be held in Turkmenistan in September this year.
The program will include a football simulator FIFA 17, an unnamed MOBA and a certain game in the genre of Real Time Attack.
Esports is gaining recognition as an official sport around the world. In our country, virtual competitions have recently been included in the register of sports developed at the all-Russian level.
