Kabam is going to leave the market of browser projects for the sake of the mobile gaming industry, – the Gamasutra resource believes.
The company has sold most of its titles, including Kingdoms of Camelot, Dragons of Atlantis, Edgeworld, The Godfather and Glory of Rome. The buyer was RockYou, a publisher and developer of social games. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Only those games that were developed directly by Kabam came into the ownership of Rock. The terms of the deal do not apply to projects that were created with the participation of third-party studios and posted on the company’s website (such as, for example, Realm of the Mad God).
“We are concentrating all our skills and resources on mobile games for the North American and European markets, with the prospect of expanding to Asia,” Kent Wakeford, COO of Kabam, said in a press release on the deal. “At the same time, we want to provide support for Kabam browser games in the name of those fans who have played them for many years, and those players who will only discover them with RockYou.”
