Unity CEO John Riccitiello shared his view on the company’s future. This happened during the Unity conference in Boston.

Riccitello took over the company a year ago. He began his speech with an overview of the innovations that were adopted under his leadership. One of the main items on this list was the appearance of a free Unity 5 Personal Edition. This is only a stage in the development of the company, says Riccitello. “We’re just like the Unity you knew before. But much more ambitious,” he comments.

The next stage is to improve the characteristics of the engine. “This year we have already hired a couple of hundred engineers, and many of them have experience in creating extremely high-quality graphics, physics, lighting,” says Riccitello.

Unity monopolizes the engine market – or, at least, will strive for it. “I believe that Unity will most likely cover 90% of the revenue in the industry – or we, one way or another, will get a large part of it,” says the CEO of Unity.

At the same time, the main vector – the low entry threshold and the availability of the engine – will remain. “Our goal is not to make another engine with cool graphics that will be difficult to use. There are more than enough of them. We are going to create just an easy-to-use engine with the same cool graphics that will improve and improve and improve over time,” says Riccitello.
