Japanese publisher and mobile game developer Gumi is opening four new studios in Europe and the USA. The company’s branches will be located in Austin, Vancouver, Stockholm and Kiev. Their goal will be the development of the Western market.The company also plans to open an office in San Francisco; the latter’s goal will be business development and public relations.
In place of the head of the development department in the USA, Gimi hired the former Xbox Studio manager A. J. Redmer (AJ Redmer).
Gumi also announced that additional studios will be opened in the near future, which will start working on games of various genres. The company promises to launch about 30 new products worldwide and has already signed a contract with Sega for the implementation of Japanese projects in North America, Europe and Asia.
At the moment, Gumi has earned about $50 million on investments.
“Based on the successful experience of the Brave Frontier game, we realized that Western market countries, such as the USA, Canada and Europe, have their own unique preferences in terms of games,” said Gumi CEO Hironao Kinumitsu (Hironao Kunimitsu). According to him, Gumi, based on its experience in developing the Asian market, will have its studios in key regions. The developer plans to hire the most successful and talented specialists so that the final product meets the needs of the Western market.
Gumi is known for its Brave Frontier game; the company has representative offices in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and France.
