IO Interactive shared its plans for the development of the company. She has already opened the third studio in a row, which will help them, among other things, in working on an unannounced project on a new IP. In addition, the authors of the Hitman series have announced their intention to engage in publishing. This was announced by the CEO of IO Interactive Hakan Abrak (Hakan Abrak) in an interview with the publication GamesIndustry.biz .
The new “elite” studio, located in Barcelona, will join the company’s existing offices in Copenhagen and Malmo.
Together they will work on three projects at once: Project 007 is about James Bond, an unannounced game based on the new franchise and additional content for the World of Assassination trilogy. At the same time, Abrak noted that new parts of Hitman should not be expected in the coming years, since the series needs a break.
“Without going into details, we are now actively working on creating a third game universe that differs from our previous projects. This is definitely the brainchild of our love. The veterans of our studio have been dreaming about this for a long time,” said the head of IO Interactive.
Now the company employs over 200 people, and the opening of an office in Barcelona contributes to the further expansion of IO Interactive. Abrak said that by 2024 the studio wants to become the most sought-after developer in Europe.
In addition, IO Interactive intends to start publishing third-party games. Abrak did not specify how soon this would happen and which studios the company plans to work with. At the same time, in the future, IO Interactive, which now publishes its own projects, may again seek help from a major publisher.
