Immersion, which is engaged in creating ready-made feedback solutions in mobile applications, has released the Haptic Muse program. The product, in theory, should explain to game developers why and how they need to use vibration.

Those who play console games are well acquainted with the “feedback” technology in PlayStation and Xbox gamepads (this is when at certain moments the joystick begins to vibrate). In mobile games, this tool of “immersion” in virtual worlds is not so common yet. Immersion aims to fix this.Another thing is that many developers do not quite understand why feedback is needed in mobile games.

Immersion decided to fight skepticism with the release of its own interactive application Haptic Muse, demonstrating the advantages DualShock-approach.

Haptic Muse, containing 124 effects, is a kind of museum in which each of the galleries is dedicated to a specific game genre and possible use cases. In the gallery you can see, hear and feel the effects you have chosen “in action”.

Suzanne Nguyen, Head of Marketing at Immersion, explains: “We developed Haptic Muse in order to give both experienced and novice game developers a fun interactive tool. It will not only allow you to determine the best tactile effect for a particular game, but also show ways to integrate video, audio and tactile feedback.”

The Immersion application development software package can be downloaded for free. Rockstar, HandyGames and Sega use it for their Android applications, besides it is included in the Unity SDK, Marmalade and GameMaker Studio. Haptic Muse can be downloaded here.
