IKEA and Asus ROG have announced the production of special furniture for gamers. The model range will include 30 items. They will first go on sale in China, and even there not earlier than next year.The main focus in the IKEA gaming line will be on accessibility and ergonomics.
According to the company, when creating furniture, it consults with professional players from China.
IKEA’s partner will be the Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, which belongs to Asus and specializes in the production of products for gamers. The furniture production will be located in Shanghai.
There is no information on models and prices yet. It can be assumed that the line will include gaming chairs and tables, as well as smaller accessories and accessories.
First IKEA will release new furniture in China. In China, its appearance is scheduled for February next year. In the USA and other markets, the start of sales is scheduled for October 2021 (it is unknown whether the line will appear in Russian stores).
IKEA’s desire to take up gaming furniture primarily in the Chinese market can be understood. It is there that esport is developing rapidly now. A recent study by Niko Partners showed that there are 720 million gamers in China now, and revenue from the local esports market over the past six months amounted to $10.3 billion and increased by 55%.
