Epic Games got caught selling a repainted item from the Fortnite battle pass. Previously, the company assured that items from the “combat pass” are exclusive and cannot be purchased separately.
A Gunner pet has appeared in the Fortnite in-game store. Players quickly recognized him as the pet Bonesy from the battle pass for the sixth season. In fact, Epic Games tried to sell ruskin: virtual dogs are almost identical, except for their clothes.
Players were outraged not only by the fact that Epic Games, contrary to promises, tried to resell them an item from the battle pass. They also quip that the company has chosen a rather old item for this purpose. Fornite is currently in its tenth season.
After assessing the reaction of users, Epic Games released a message on Reddit: “We didn’t have to sell the Gunner pet, so now we don’t apologize for it.” The company promised to make a refand within a few days. She will even throw some virtual currency on top to the players who bought Gunner.
At the same time, the pet was withdrawn from sale. It will also disappear from the players’ inventory, writes PCGamesN. Nevertheless, some users fear that in the future Epic Games will try to pull off the same trick with other items from the battle pass.
