Honor of Kings has a record DAU. Every day the game is launched by 100 million people

This year, the Chinese mobile title Honor of Kings celebrates its fifth anniversary. In honor of the anniversary, Tencent shared a new achievement of the project — the DAU of the game has passed the milestone of 100 million.

Last weekend, the Chinese gaming giant Tencent organized a large-scale concert dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the release of the mobile Honor of Kings. On it, the company announced the next record title.

Analyst Daniel Ahmad has already commented on the success of the game on Twitter. He congratulated TiMi, the developer studio, and explained how Honor of Kings, almost unknown in the West, was able to achieve such popularity.

Ahmad identified five main reasons:

  • Accessibility and thoughtful design. According to the analyst, playing this mobile MOBA is convenient for both hardcore gamers and beginners;
  • Regular updates. New content is constantly being uploaded to Honor of Kings to increase user engagement. From examples: adding battle royale and autobatler modes;
  • Technical innovations. Despite the fact that the game was released five years ago, TiMi continues to improve its technical stuffing. So, in Honor of Kings, frame synchronization, the Wukong AI system, protection against cheating and more appeared;
  • The use of elements of Chinese culture. Developers often add skins related to anime, movies, music and martial arts to the title. One of the last such skins is the image of Bruce Lee;
  • Great attention to esports. Honor of Kings is represented at all levels of esports: professional, student and amateur. Ahmad notes that in 2019 alone, the game collected 44 billion views at tournaments.

Also note that against the background of the Honor of Kings records, the development team announced two spin-offs in the title universe. While the details of the projects are not fully disclosed. It is only known that one mobile game will be released under the name Code: Breaking Dawn, its genre is an action game with elements of a fighting game. And the second game will be called Code: Departure.
