According to TechCrunch, in February of this year, 20 out of 35 employees of the company signed a petition to remove Yusupov from office.
The signatories blame him for indecision and misuse of investments received, including from the Founders Fund. Because of Yusupov, according to employees, the flagship mobile title HQ Trivia (the game bears the same name) is in decline. In addition, Yusupov publicly threatened the game’s host, comedian Scott Rogowsky.
In the same month, Yusupov was transferred to the position of interim CEO, and the board of directors began searching for a new chief. For this purpose, a committee responsible for executive decisions was created. Yusupov also joined the committee. The HQ Trivia game is a daily quiz with real cash prizes. Since its launch in August 2017 to March 2018, its audience has grown to 2.4 million players. But now the title is not so popular anymore. Its downloads last month were 92% lower than a year ago.
The game’s revenue has also fallen, according to TechCrunch sources. According to their information, HQ Trivia recently had $6 million in its accounts, but it spends more than $1 million every month.
