Japanese media giant Gree is investing in Indonesian mobile game studio Touchten. The amount was not disclosed.

The Japanese company is investing in the mobile market of Southeast Asia for the first time. As a result of the deal, Gree representative Katsushi Iida will join the board of directors of the Indonesian studio. The goal of the Japanese media corporation is to make Touchten “the leading gaming company in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.”

Together with Gree, 500 Startaps is investing in the development of Touchten. This is a seed investment fund founded by people from Google and PayPal.

Recall that at the end of 2013, the Japanese studio CyberAgent also invested in TouchTen. In 2011, the Indonesian studio received funds from the local venture fund Ideosource.

TouchTen was founded in 2009 in Jakarta. The studio’s portfolio includes Sushi Chain games (3 million downloads) and Ramen Chain. In early 2015, the company released a joint project with studio 9Gag – the title Redhead Redemption.
