Store GOG.COM He is working on a free GOG GALAXY 2.0 client. It will allow you to bring together game libraries and friends from Steam, Origin, Xbox and other platforms.
Games of the same user, collected from different platforms
GOG announced its future novelty in a press release. Within the framework of one client, the player will be able to collect his PC and console games into a single collection. This applies not only to installed, but also just purchased titles. The GOG GALAXY 2.0 user’s shared library will be equipped with filters and tags.
The program will also inform the user about the activity of his friends — regardless of the platforms on which they play. In addition, it will be equipped with a single chat for communication with friends.
In GOG GALAXY 2.0, statistics of achievements, hours spent in various games, and even in-game purchases made (not only in GOG) will be available. At the same time, the player’s friends will also be able to see his achievements or simulated hours.
Actions of the user’s friends on different platforms
Other features of the client include a game overlay, a network mode with matchmaking, auto-updates of games to current versions, cloud saves. The latter will allow you to synchronize the progress in supported games between different devices.
Does this mean that the player can safely delete Steam, Origin and other programs? Not quite. For some of the above functions to work, the player will have to save third-party clients in the system, from which GOG GALAXY 2.0 will make the transfer.
Let’s add that GOG took care of the client combining the game libraries in a timely manner. In recent months, many users have been solving the dilemma associated with the Epic Games Store. The store made its exclusives some of the games that were supposed to be released on Steam. Some of the players took the epic store with hostility, including due to the reluctance to break up collections of games for different customers.
GOG GALAXY 2.0 will be available on Windows and Mac. Now GOG is planning its closed beta test. You can sign up for it here.
