Now the French publisher Voodoo has a studio in the UK. We are talking about buying a mobile studio Gumbug.
The price and terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The purchased studio employs 15 developers, but now their number, according to Voodoo CEO Alexander Yazdi, may grow to 25.
Gumbug is based in London. It was founded in 2013 by people from Space Ape and Mind Candy. The flagship project of Gumbug was Smash Supreme, a fighting game for iOS and Android. The studio published it independently. After the purchase, the developer will continue to release games for mobile devices.
Thanks to the deal, Voodoo expanded its expansion beyond France. Earlier, for the same purpose, it established headquarters in Berlin, Istanbul and Montreal.
To date, the total staff of Voodoo exceeds 220 people. The publisher has released more than 100 games, whose total installations exceeded 2.6 billion. According to VentureBeat, Voodoo’s audience has reached 1 billion players. Her hits include Helix Jump, Hole.io and Purple Diver.
