Portuguese game studio Bica has completed the first round of seed investments. The funds came from a large venture fund Portugal Ventures. The exact amount of the investment was not disclosed.
Investment in mobile gaming startups is a rarity for Portugal. The Venturebeat resource reports that the Bica case is the first in five years.
The studio intends to use the funds to release its next project, Smash Time. Part of the money will go to support research in the field of mobile VR and augmented reality. Bisca plans to become a leading company in Portugal, as well as to develop the local gaming industry.
In addition, it is difficult to say what influenced the decision of investors to invest in this studio. Indicators of the first and so far only Bica game, Smash IT! Adventures, far from ideal. In the world, she was simply not noticed, and in her native Portugal, even at the best of times, she hardly entered the top ten.
