Unexpected. This is how we can describe in one word a selection of the best games from Facebook for the past year. The fact is that the main draft of the final list is far from being heard by the general public.
The best game of 2017 according to Facebook was named 1979 Revolution: Black Friday. This is a small chamber project from iNK Stories studio, which also made cinematics for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
1979 Revolution: Black Friday was released in 2016. The game is made in the spirit of interactive projects by Telltale Games and tells about the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Facebook also recognized her as the best game for the Gameroom platform.
Such attention to the project, which passed relatively unnoticed for the gaming audience last year, seems very unusual. Although, on the other hand, the topic itself (the transition of the political system from secular autocracy to religious dictatorship) continues to be very relevant in the world (including for Russia).
Among the competitors of 1979 Revolution: Black Friday for the title of the best game for the Gameroom platform were projects such as:
- The Eyes of Ara by 100 Stones Interactive;
- Beholder from Warm Lamp Games;
- Rise of Balloons by Mirum Studio;
- Heart’s Medicine from GameHouse.
As for the winners in the other nominations, everything is, in general, more familiar here.
Star Wars: Commander, which appeared on the market in 2014, was named the best free-play game for the Gameroom platform.
The EA project, we recall, is one of the many clones of Clash of Clans. The nominees here also performed:
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War by JOYCITY;
- Pixonic’s War Robots;
- Crusaders of Light by NetEase.
June’s Journey received the title of the best web game. This is another plot hidden from Wooga, in which you can (and should) be engaged in construction.
This is a very beautiful project, whose UI is primarily focused on mobile, not the web.
June’s Journey had the following competitors:
- Bubble Witch by King;
- Dakota Farm Adventures by RJ Games.
AdVenture Capitalist from Hyper Hippo Productions was recognized as the game of the Year on the Instant Games platform.
A clicker project in which a player, by clicking on a lemon, is offered to become a billionaire.
The game of the Year on the Instant site could also be:
- 4 Pics 1 Word from LOTUM;
- Dino Ballz by SundayToz;
- Golden Boot from Nordeus.
This time, the best games were chosen not by the editors of Facebook, but by a specially formed jury consisting mainly of editors of Western gaming publications.
