Epic Games and Sold Out have developed a support program for indie studios. The initiative is called The Unreal Box Offer.

As part of the program, Sold Out will select the best indie developers using the Unreal Engine. The creators of “unusual games” with a release date no later than the end of 2020 will be among those selected. At the same time, authors should not have valid contracts with other publishers.

Selected indie studios will be provided with financing — up to $ 500 thousand. In addition, they will be helped with the publication of the game on physical media and its promotion. The developers will retain the intellectual property rights, writes Gamesindustry.biz .

It's just a good opportunity for some Unreal developers to get funding and release a boxed version of the game. The growth of the indie market has become possible thanks to the widespread use of digital distribution and the introduction of self-publishing options on most major platforms. This is the most affordable way to release a title, especially for a new or small studio, but physical retail can also help these developers in various ways.

Applications for participation in the program are submitted on its official website.

Sold Out is a British publisher that has released both parts of Overcooked, Elite Dangerous, Sniper Elite 4.
