Hipster Whale Studio, author of Crossy Road, will start publishing games itself.

The transition to publishers is a “natural development,” according to the studio’s management. “Other developers often come to us and ask for help with their projects, and we haven’t had such an opportunity before. Now that we have our own publishing house, we will be able to promote various cool projects,” said Andy Sum, director of Hipster Whale.

Preference will be given to non-standard projects. According to Sam, the company is looking for teams that are “able to rethink the usual genres.”

Since the studio is changing course, the management is also being reorganized. Clara Reeves, who used to work in the business development department at Atari, will be hired as president of the company.

However, internal projects will not be ignored either. “Hipster Whale will continue to work on its own projects in collaboration with great partners such as Bandai Namco and Disney,” Reeves shared.
