Chinese users believe that the gaming industry has no cultural value, and the games themselves have been recognized as a waste of time,” Karvin Sun, a developer from China, shared on his blog.

Despite the fact that in terms of revenue, the games are about to overtake the film industry, the attitude of Chinese residents towards them is dismissive. For example, there is a study according to which 20.8% of mobile players quit playing because they “don’t want to play mobile games anymore”, and 38.6% – because they played them “for too long”.

According to a study shared by Sun, 97.9% of players have never paid for mobile games. The industry, however, continues to grow – only in the second quarter of 2014 its volume increased by 52.8%.

According to Sun, the attitude of developers towards players in the country is no less depressing. They consider game consumers to be “losers”. This position has already forced some developers who disagree with it to leave the industry.
