Beijing has announced that it is going to monitor the activity of minors on social networks and streaming platforms.
Companies that own online services, games, streaming platforms and social networks now have to set limits on the amounts that children spend and the time spent online.
This was announced by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The new restrictions are part of a national program aimed at the development of children. The implementation of the latter is designed for 10 years.
Regulation will not be limited to this. The government noted that they are planning a number of measures aimed at both classifying and evaluating game content and protecting the personal data of minors.
It is unclear how the new restrictions will affect local players. In theory, the share of payments from children and teenagers is small.
Recall that in August, China has already introduced a time limit in online games: since September, children can play no more than three hours a day on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 20:00 to 21:00.
