Following DeNA, Capcom announced a full-fledged JRPG blockbuster for mobile devices called Blade Fantasia.

In our memory, this is the third major mobile announcement from Japanese developers in the last month. The first two are Final Fantasy Agito, a spin-off of Final Fantasy Type-0, from Square Enix and Magic & Cannon from the already mentioned DeNA. Apparently, right now Japanese publishers have begun to look at iOS and Android as full-fledged gaming platforms. And where there are platforms, there are big projects.

However, it would be wrong to call Blade Fantasia an old-school jRPG. Visually, the project resembles its older brothers from 3DS, but judging by the video, the card present of the mobile market has left a certain imprint on the game.

The main character’s attack in the game takes place with the participation of the game deck. To strike, the user must tap on the cards in a certain sequence. The force of the blow depends on the combination you have typed.

The game is scheduled for release on September 26 in Japan.

According to Famitsu, the Blade Fantasia development team participated in the creation of Breath of Fire and Devil May Cry.

When asked about the intention to release the game in Western markets, Capcom representatives said that they have not yet confirmed it. It remains to be hoped that the absence of a direct “no” leaves a chance for the game to be released outside Japan.
