In October, sales of hardware, games and accessories in the United States are showing record levels, according to NPD analysts. This was influenced by the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2General market figures
The total October turnover of the gaming market is the largest in the entire history of observations of the analytical firm NPD Group (i.e. since 1995).
- Total turnover — $1.545 billion (increased by 73%).
- Sales of iron — $300 million (increased by 26%).
- Video game sales — $965 million (increased by 104%).
- Accessory sales — $280 million (increased by 54%).
The rise in indicators this month is explained by the October releases of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII and Red Dead Redemption 2. Both new items have surpassed all other titles in sales not only this month, but in the year. Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is in the lead, and it has also become the best-selling game in the last 12 months, second only to its predecessor, Call of Duty: WWII.

Console Sales
Separate records this month are set by PlayStation 4. Sales of this console reached the highest in its history, and it also became the best-selling among all consoles released by Sony. The last sales record was set by PlayStation 2 in October 2002.
So, PS4 was able to beat both Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in sales. At the same time, NPD notes that sales of the Microsoft console are still growing, but sales of the Nintendo Switch have slowed due to the lack of major releases.
