Bossa Studios will cut 15% of its staff during the restructuring. The company explains this by the need to adapt to the recent trends in the industry. At the same time, over the past few months, almost a quarter of the employees have already left the studio.

The CEO of Bossa Studios Henrique Olifiers told about the upcoming layoffs.

According to him, by the beginning of next year, 75 people will most likely remain working in the studio instead of 85. The cuts will mainly affect marketers and testers.

As Olfiers points out, the reason for the restructuring was the drastic changes in the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the studio needs people with other competencies who will develop games in a different way.

The studio will not leave the dismissed employees without support, Olifiers notes. They will either try to find other positions in Bossa Studios itself, or they will give recommendations for the device to other gaming companies.

But according to some employees, the situation in the studio has been far from healthy for a long time. Personnel problems began in March, when Bossa Studios transferred the staff to the “remote”.

Due to the remote format, developers and testers could not quickly rebuild, which eventually led to a crunch when working on the surgeon simulator Surgeon Simulator 2.

Later, Bossa Studios paid compensation for the processing and provided people with additional time off, but this (including against the background of the discreetly accepted Surgeon Simulator 2) did not smooth out the negative mood in the company.

According to GamesIndustry, referring to an anonymous source, and without restructuring over the past few months, about 20 people have left the studio. However, the Bossa Studios management does not confirm these figures.
