The Russian studio Owlcat Games has announced its independence. Previously, it was among the internal studios of MY.GAMES, a gaming brand Mail.Ru Group.
Owlcat Games informed the Russian-speaking and English-speaking audience about the change of course on the social networks VKontakte and Facebook.
The studio calls this unexpected step “mutually beneficial” for itself and for MY.GAMES. Although the latter is still a strategic partner and investor of Owlcat. The studio does not say more about the terms of their cooperation. He does not disclose his future plans either.
Both sides have agreed to this mutually beneficial step — it will allow us to continue exploring new business opportunities while maintaining focus on our core business.
It is also noted that Owlcat has already moved to a new office.
Last year, Owlcat Games released an isometric RPG Pathfinder: Kingmaker to the market. The number of its owners on Steam has exceeded 500 thousand people. The publisher of the title is Deep Silver (owned by THQ Nordic).
