Apple returned to publishing games after 10 years. The company has released a free game Warren Buffett’s Paper Wizard from Wildlife Designs studio in the App Store.
In Paper Wizard, the player must throw newspapers at houses and factories. The game evaluates the accuracy of the user and the number of newspapers delivered to them, and the results appear in a record table.
The title of the game mentions billionaire Warren Buffett, the third richest person on the planet. He owns 5% of Apple shares. As the company explains, the game is inspired by the personal experience of a tycoon who worked as a newspaper peddler as a child. Moreover, Buffett’s hometown of Omaha and Cupertino, where Apple’s headquarters are located, are represented as Paper Wizard locations.
Note that Paper Wizard does not support Game Center. In addition, it does not run on the iPad, writes Touch Arcade.
On the MacRumors forums, some of the players criticized Apple’s action. Some suspected the Apple corporation of wanting to promote the billionaire. Others believe that Apple is improperly spending time and resources on creating “not so important applications.” Some even called the situation “the beginning of the end of Apple.” Nevertheless, Paper Wizard became Apple’s first game since 2008, and this may signal that the company wants to develop the publishing direction again.
