Apple has adjusted the App Store search engine to correct minor errors, typos and incorrect placement of spaces.

Previously, it was necessary to write the application name absolutely correctly in order to get the desired result. Although some developers guessed to include queries with errors in the list of keywords, this state of affairs still caused some difficulties.

According to T echcrunch, the changes came into effect a few weeks ago. They should increase the number of downloads of applications, in particular, those developers who have chosen long and complex names for their titles.

SEO company SearchMan has compared the results of the search for words with errors. For example, previously, when requesting “Newz“, the number of results was 9, but now, thanks to the built-in spelling correction, it has grown to 2199.

CEO of SearchMan Niren Hiro admits that the search engine is not perfect yet. The table above shows that for some queries with errors, the number of results before the innovation was higher than after.

However, the changes should be positively received by the majority of iOS developers. One of the proofs is the words of Craig Palli from Fiksu: “This is great news for publishers, and another step by Apple towards improving the detectability of applications.”
