Dan Potter, the creator of the infamous Draw Something, is launching a new application, writes Re/code.
The project is called Tally. This is a kind of “news social network” where users will be able to share texts, GIFs or pictures with one prerequisite: each post must be provided with a hashtag.
The creator of Draw Something is sure that the application will be useful to those who “do not have a large audience, but have something to say.” Potter hopes that his new project will repeat the success of the previous one.
Recall that the story of Draw Something from OMGPOP studio serves as an example of both how “not necessary” and how “necessary”.
For its creators, the social-mobile game has become an undoubted success: she scored 25 million downloads in a matter of weeks. After Zynga bought the studio for $200 million, DAU Draw Something dived down, collapsing Zynga shares at the same time. Thus, the company suffered financial losses and clearly illustrated the thesis that buying a “one-game studio” is a ridiculous step. But Potter, on the contrary, showed how important it is to sell the project on time.
