Epic Games has launched a joint program with the Interactive Gaming Ventures investment fund — indie developers making games on the Unreal Engine 4 engine will be able to receive up to $5 million from the fund.

The investment project is designed for seven years: Interactive Gaming Ventures will select two or three experienced indie studios annually, $1 million to $5 million will be allocated for each project. Developers will also receive support in promoting and distributing their product.

Investors note that the program is aimed at those studios that primarily develop their project for PC, and only then are going to port the game to consoles or mobile devices. Details of the program can be found directly from Interactive Gaming Ventures.

Investment Fund Interactive Gaming Ventures was created by the former chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment America Jack Tretton (Jack Tretton). Tretton is one of the developers of the original PlayStation, he led Sony’s gaming division from 2006 to 2014.

Note that this is not the first time when Epic Games maintains interest in its engine through investment initiatives. The company has its own system of Unreal Dev Grants grant competitions, for winning which developers who create projects on UE receive funding for their projects. However, the amount of investment here is much lower: in January 2018, $ 200 thousand was divided between thirteen teams. Also in February 2018 , Epic Games announced the start of a partnership with the investment division Mail.Ru Games Ventures to support promising projects.
