The Government of the Russian Federation is discussing a draft law according to which telecommunications services provided by foreign companies to individuals in our country will be subject to VAT.
The Izvestia newspaper told about this yesterday with reference to its own source in the government.
Recall that at the moment VAT in Russia is paid only by those companies that “carry out their activities on the territory of the country.” If the company is registered in the territory of another state, it does not pay VAT.
If the bill is passed, a number of foreign companies selling digital content in Russia will have to share revenue with the government.
It is clear that content sellers will blame their losses on consumers. In other words, prices will creep up. Such changes will directly affect the App Store and Google Play mobile app stores. So we do not exclude the possibility that at the beginning of 2015, the minimum payment in mobile stores will no longer be 33 rubles, but 39 rubles.
The question is, how much will this affect the number and volume of purchases?
