The Russian smartphone market continues to grow. In the first quarter of 2014 alone, smartphone sales increased by 16% in monetary terms compared to the same period last year, and by 7.5% in physical terms.
This was announced today by the company “M.Video”.
The average price of a smartphone in the country today is 8,700 rubles. And, as far as can be understood from the report, it continues to decline.
The fall in the average price is due to the expansion of second-tier brands into the market. According to the results of the first quarter, the share of such devices in sales of the “M.Video” made up an impressive 39%, although at the end of 2013 it did not exceed 22%.
At the same time, the cost of flagship devices has remained at the same level over the past year.
