Spain has joined the list of regions where the prediction platforms Polymarket and Kalshi no longer operate. The country's Ministry of Consumer Affairs decided to impose restrictions on them due to the lack of a license to organize gambling activities.

The Ministry stated that it considers the activities of Polymarket and Kalshi as a form of gambling, and such activities require a license to operate within the country. Gambling operators without a license cannot adequately ensure user safety — they often lack a system for identity verification, as well as mechanisms to restrict access for minors and individuals banned from gambling activities.

The Spanish gambling regulator has launched an investigation into Polymarket and Kalshi on suspicion of violating local rules. The blockade will last for about three to four months — until the completion of the investigation.
