The project from the indie studio Mechanics was released on playgrounds on September 15 and is now in early access, which will last a year.
The team plans to improve the mechanics and tutorial, as well as provide support for cloud saving and GeForce Now.
Timberborn’s actions take place in a world where humanity has become extinct, having drained almost all resources from the Earth. Superintelligent beavers have come to take the place of people, who are building their colony. The player helps them to get food, build farms and buildings, build dams and manage resources.
The strategy has already become famous for its addictive, but ruthless setting: water is a vital resource and without proper management, a colony of beavers can die from drought or flooding. The company’s official Twitch channel even says: “an urban planning game in which beavers either work or die.”
