The executive producer of the new role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance (KCD) Martin Klima (Martin Klíma) told why he does not consider his work to be part of the echelon of AAA titles. According to Klima, it’s all about its complexity.
Unlike other low-budget gaming projects, KCD does not forgive mistakes and does not let the gamer relax.
“Recently, AAA-class games do not challenge players, but on the contrary, allow them to relax and have a good time. On the other hand, indie games tend to make gamers seriously tense up. We wanted our project to look large-scale and expensive as an AAA title, but it had the soul of an indie game and did not turn into an easy walk for the player,” said Martin Klima.
Martin also admitted that Kingdom Come: Deliverance cannot be seriously considered an AAA project also due to the fact that the game came out technically incomplete. After the release, many players noticed a lot of glitches and bugs.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released on PC and consoles on February 13. The game was developed by the independent Czech studio Warhorse Studios, founded by former employees of companies such as 2K, Codemasters, Bohemia Interactive and others.
The game showed a strong start: in the first week, KCD sales on all platforms amounted to about 1 million copies.
