The Russian studio Owlcat Games, together with screenwriter Chris Avellon, is creating a video game based on the Pathfinder desktop role-playing system.
The Pathfinder: Kingmaker project will be a classic role-playing adventure in an isometric perspective in a fantasy setting.
Desktop Pathfinder was created by Paizo Publishing based on the 3rd edition of the Dungeons &Dragons rules in 2009. The official universe of the game is the fantasy world of Golarion.
“I’ve enjoyed playing Pathfinder with my friends and I’m familiar with comics. I am happy that I am taking part in the creation of a computer role—playing game based on this universe, and I hope that players will enjoy the adventures in the Pathfinder world,” commented Chris Avellon.
Owlcat Games is part of the Russian company Mail. Ru Group. The studio consists of veterans of the domestic and world industry who have worked on such projects as “Allods”, “Demiurges”, “Operation Silent Storm”, Heroes of Might and Magic V and others.
Chris Avellon wrote stories for such role-playing classics as Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale. Becoming a co-founder of Obsidian Entertainment, he participated in the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas and many other projects. Avellon currently works as a freelancer.
The project will be officially presented for the first time at the PaizoCon 2017 convention, which will be held at the end of May in Seattle.
