The number of one-time players in the online shooter H1Z1: King of the Kill has grown from 10 to 110 thousand in the last 6 months.
Such popularity ups are usually associated with significant discounts or switching to a free-to-play model. But the price of H1Z1: King of the Kill at $19.99 has not changed since launch.
The growth in popularity of H1Z1: King of the Kill was accompanied by an increase in stream views on Twitch. In February, the game took 6th place in the Top 20 most watched broadcasts with an indicator of 89 thousand viewers, who in total watched the game for 16.7 million hours.
The success of H1Z1: King of the Kill came after the decision of the game developer Daybreak to split the original H1Z1 project into two games — King of the Kill and Just Survive. Just Survive occupied a niche of the genre of survival simulator losing popularity in the open world with zombies, but the theme of King of the Kill in the spirit of the movie “Battle Royale” unexpectedly pleased gamers. Here, the heroes are thrown into a large area, where they need to look for equipment and kill rivals until only one remains alive.
