On January 25, independent developer Matt Thorson released a new Celeste platformer project. In 2 weeks, the Nintendo Switch version of the game has overtaken its PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions in sales.

The successful sales of Celeste consolidate the Switch’s fame as the main indie platform today. According to the results of last year, the most downloaded game for Switch was the Stardew Valley farm role-playing simulator from independent developer Eric Barone.

“We see that Celeste and Switch are perfect for each other,” Thorson said in an interview with Destructoid.

He did not give the exact number of copies of Celeste sold. According to the Steam Spy service, Matt Thorson’s game has appeared on Steam alone for 20 thousand users since its release.

Thorson became famous in the world of video games thanks to the sprite action TowerFall, which he originally developed for the Ouya console. Matt later re-released TowerFall on PC and consoles under the name TowerFall Ascension.
