Clear-eyed Subway Surfers, despite its decent age, is one of the highest-grossing runners on the market. Looking at the fresh Skyline Skaters from Tactile Entertainment, you might think that the time has come for its ideological heirs.
For the past two years, Subway Surfers has been consistently in the box office top 100 of the American App Store.In fact, the hype around the runners took place in the middle of 2012.
Today, the transmission structure, combinations of three or more stones, as well as everything that is in the box office top 10 of the American store, and what TechCrunch and Rolling Stones write about, are in fashion.
The latest release from the authors of Chasing Yello is somewhat out of this series. The game is an endless runner without any hint of hardcore.
Visually, Skyline Skaters literally repeats Subway Surfers: bright colors, smiling cartoon characters, skateboards, even the conditional plot is almost the same (the hero runs away from the law enforcement forces, thereby embodying the still not cooled down thread of “fighting the system”).
That’s just the project itself belongs to the class of more traditional two-dimensional runners with a touch of the once aggressively promoted Wind-up Knight.
At the exit, we get Subway Surfers for those who “like sideways”.
But we decided to write Skyline Skaters for slightly different reasons. The game has a couple of features that may well become new standards in runners.
Firstly, when collecting a number of coins, the player receives a bonus to points (streak bonus when collecting a chain). Something similar happened in Rayman Origins when collecting fireflies of a special color.
