One of the main box office hits on PC and consoles in 2016 – a project about radio–controlled cars kicking a soccer ball – took a new milestone – 25 million registered players.

Rocket League was released in the summer of 2015. It was developed by the independent studio Psyonix from San Jose, which specializes in outsourcing. In particular, she worked on Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War and Mass Effect 3.

The success of Rocket League is one of the stories about the path “from dirt to princes”. A previously unknown small team independently creates and releases a product that, a year and a half after its release, turns out to be one of the most commercially successful on PC and PS4.

At the end of 2016, Steam named Rocket League one of the most popular games in terms of sales. Sony, in turn, announced that Rocket League last year was the best-selling PS4 game in the European PlayStation Store and the most downloaded in the American PlayStation Store.
