The success of Drodo Studio attracted the attention of Riot Games. An American developer has announced the launch of a new game in the spirit of Dota Auto Chess. So far, only in the format of a new mode for League of Legends.

The novelty is called Teamfight Tactics. The company itself positions it as a “turn-based autobattler with automatic combat” (turn-based autobattler), but at the same time does not hide the source of inspiration.
“We decided to try our hand at a new genre! We have always liked strategy games, and recently we discovered the autobattler genre – in particular, Dota Auto Chess is very often played in our office,” the Riot website states.
It is difficult to say how close the novelty will be to the original. Judging by the first screenshot presented, the chess field will give way to a hexagonal one. However, the basic mechanics will remain in the same place.
Eight players fight each other in dueling matches. Between each duel, the player can buy new units with gold, forming a combat squad from them. Three identical units are assembled into one.
Teamfight Tactics will be released in beta format on June 25. Now Riot Games calls it an experiment, which she would like to make a full-fledged mode. It is also stated that the company will create Teamfight Tactics “together with the players.”
What is the background of the announcement?
Riot Games calls the reason for the appearance of the new mode “huge interest” in the genre from the players. They say, she wanted League of Legends users to be able to join the genre.
Perhaps the company witnessed the leakage of a part of the League of Legends audience to Dota 2 due to the new mode that appeared in it. Recall that in two months, the Auto Chess mode, created by Drodo Studio, increased the Dota 2 audience by 23%. Total mode downloads for January-March amounted to 7 million.
Will the regime have difficulties?
After the release of Teamfight Tactics, you will have to compete not only with the Dota 2 mod. Last week Drodo Studio released its own mobile game Auto Chess. It also recently became known that Valve is also preparing its own variation on the theme of turn-based autobattler.
