Today there are three projects in our traditional daily selection: Cinderella Free Fall, Lastronaut and Proto Raider.
Cinderella Free Fall
Disney has found a gold mine: the creation of match-3 based on its own tapes.
The company previously managed to release the same game under two different names: “Cold Heart” and “Maleficent”. And both times successfully. The projects still show excellent cash results. “Maleficent”, however, to a slightly lesser extent, but it’s more about the depressive setting of the game (the interface is black and the evil horned heroine is by no means something that suits a wide audience) and the average rental results of the original tape.
And so, after the start of the show of the new “Cinderella”, it was the turn of the game based on her motives. Visually, she left not far from the two mentioned projects (an eight-by-eight-cell field, above it a three-dimensional character reacting to the player’s actions). The main difference is the use of different mechanics: the pebbles are no longer matched, but are removed by chains.
Another game differs from its predecessors in that it does not give the impression of crafts. For the first time, the game interface, gems and game map are neatly drawn.
But otherwise, no surprises. In the USA, the game, released on March 12, managed to score 211 reviews (iPhone App Store). The prevailing majority of them are positive. There are fewer reviews in Russia (about 80), but they are also mostly good.
Lastronaut
The ideological heir of the combat two-dimensional runner Monster Dash from Halfbrick: tap on the left half of the screen – jump, on the right – fire.
In general, a good, but still very raw (in the first minutes of the game I managed to catch two problematic bugs at once) project with one, as it seems to me, fundamental problem.
The fact is that the authors were able to copy the basic mechanics, but more complex things (for example, setting the pace of the game) were not. Whether they will be able to finish the game “along the way” is an open question.
The project is doing very well with the media right now. Techcrunch wrote about the game the other day. With reviews – also not bad. Out of about 900 marks – 660 for five stars.
Proto Raider
The Krasnoyarsk Puzzle Lab team recently released the Proto Raider platformer.
The main feature of the project is graphics: all game objects consist of symbols (in this regard, the closest analogy is the original version of the NetHack “bagel”). Screenshots of the project are useless to consider, all its charm is revealed in dynamics.
The levels of the game are hardcore mini-puzzles. I had my first problems around the seventh. In other words, the project is by no means for a casual audience. And the game has great music.
In general, we liked the project very much, the other day wait for an interview with the game designer – Andrey Fomin.
The project is paid, costs $ 1.99. We haven’t found any reviews for it in the App Store yet.
