Rovio is a solid forge of frames. Today, you are unlikely to meet a Finnish team whose employees have not previously worked on Angry Birds. Epic Owl Studio, which released the Starside Arena game yesterday, is no exception.
The uncomplicated battler about spaceships is the debut project of an independent company founded in 2014.
The concept of Starside Arena is as follows: the player is given a ship, in the free cells of which he puts an engine, an energy generator, armor, weapons, and so on. Then the ship automatically fights with the ship of another real player. Actually, everything.
The difficulty is to arrange the equipment correctly on the ship of the appropriate level (the player’s level depends on the size of the choice in the stack of space vessels). The limiter is not only a finite number of free cells, but also the power of generators. But every weapon (and defense) has its own strengths and weaknesses, which also need to be remembered.
As a result, the game is constantly in search of optimal combinations for PvP battles.
As for the game cycle, it looks like this: the player defeats opponents (no experience is given for losing) – the player gains experience – the player gets access to new ships and weapon upgrades – the player spends money on ships and upgrades – the player wins.
In principle, you can speed up your progress a little by spending real money on hard currency, which allows you to purchase ships a couple of levels higher than yours.
In general, the project looks interesting, although visually frightening.
