Release of the Day: Deus Ex GO (UPDATED)

This is the third project in a series of conditionally minimalistic GO games and the fifth video game release in the history of the Deus Ex trademark. The previous one, by the way, was also mobile. Coldly-received by both critics and players, Deus Ex: The Fall was released on iOS in 2013.

Deus Ex GO is seriously different both from Hitman GO, which launched a series of mobile puzzles for large Square Enix franchises, and with the sequel Lara Croft GO, released in August 2015. The key difference between the novelty and other GO games is the ability to attack opponents facing the hero, as well as the appearance of a more complex scenario: the game now has dialogues.

Traditionally for GO, developers from Square Enix Montreal have very carefully approached the original source (here – the Deus Ex universe). We are talking about both stylistic compliance with the latest parts of the cyberpunk saga, and the addition of traditional IP features to the gameplay, such as hacking turrets.

By the way, one of the tasks that the project team faced before launching the game into production (work on the game began a year ago) was to create a convenient toolkit for creating levels. When developing previous projects, it was a problem to make content quickly (the number of the team working on GO series games at the same time varies from 5 to 10 people). It took a team of 4 people 2 months to create new maps. In the case of Deus Ex GO, this problem was solved. Now, after the release, a full-fledged new level (with a plot) will appear in the game every working day. Also, after the release, a meta-game will be added, within which players will create levels themselves.

The game is only available on iOS. In the Russian App Store, it costs 379 rubles. An Android release is also expected soon. Deus Ex GO is the first game in the GO franchise, timed to coincide with the launch of the “big” corresponding title on PC and consoles.
