This event can well be called a revolution, but so far with a question mark, since it is unknown how long the game will be able to stay in the tops.

At least, this is a precedent: an AR project with geolocation has overtaken recognized box office leaders in daily earnings, such as Game of War – Fire Age and Clash Royale. Previously, similar solutions were often perceived as something not very serious or, at least, very niche.

If the project can gain a foothold in the top, then the mobile gaming market will change significantly very soon. Many developers will seriously take up the creation of projects based on augmented reality technologies.

However, whether they will be able to repeat the success of Niantic is an open question. Without such a popular brand, without its world, whose laws perfectly fit the concept of the game, there may not be success.

Recall that Pokémon GO is built on finding, collecting and fighting small virtual animals in real terrain.

The development was handled by Niantic studio, originally launched as an internal Google startup. It gained independence only last year. She also publishes the game. Previously, Google, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company invested at least $20 million in the company.
